Mattress down

Mattress down. I'm still pretty upset by this. But I can kind of see the humor behind it as well.
Shadow is one rare dog. He managed to destroy a mattress, sheets and blanket... All without getting out of his crate.
Here are a few pictures I took when I got home.

Tag team

Shadow escaped again this morning. They teamed up on me after Kendra left. I took Charlie out and while he was fighting me to come back in Shadow ran out the door. Home free! He went to his favorite spot two houses down so I was able to get him there.

Charlie with his cone

Charlie isn't supposed to be licking or biting after his surgery so he has to wear this cone.

Charlie is a stinker

When the dishwasher repair guy came today I tried to put both dogs in the bedroom because I knew Charlie wouldn't leave him alone. So I grabbed them both by the collars and ushered them towards the bedroom. Shadow was way too interested in the new guy so he slipped out of his collar and ran toward the door. So I put Charlie in the bedroom and went back for Shadow. When I returned I found the bedroom door locked. Charlie had somehow jumped up and turned the lock on the door! How does he do that? Well, the lock was from the previous owners so of course we don't have a key. This wasn't your average "use a hairpin to pop it open" kind of lock. This was legit and a key was necessary. Unless you leave your windows unlocked! But no, we couldn't do that it wouldn't be safe. So after prying off the screens from the outside, just to find both windows securely shut, I actually started thinking about how I could fit through the air ducts. Not going to happen. Last resort? Big hammer to the lock. It took three pretty heavy smashes on the knob but it finally snapped right off. A little more time with a screwdriver and Charlie was free. Or I was able to go to bed. Something like that. But now we have no doorknob on our bedroom door. Meanwhile I think Shadow is taking notes on another escape method...

Shadow escapes his crate

The first night we left Shadow alone was last Saturday. Somehow he managed to open the crate door just far enough to squeeze out and get loose in the bedroom. We realized something was wrong when we got home, opened the bedroom door and out came two dogs! Then we saw the aftermath: knocked over lamp, chewed up leash, chewed up sweater drier, chewed up blinds, chewed up electric fence collar, chewed up belt, chewed up toothpaste.

He apparently doesn't like to be alone. Seriously, Charlie, couldn't you have talked some sense into him?

Shadow has escaped the yard five times now. Today was probably my fault. I thought he was doing much better with his collar so I took him off the leash. Bad idea. He heard a bird and went blazing across the street. I'm not sure he got zapped cause he didn't react. But also the fence is giving us problems. I might have to bury a new wire :(

Thus is having two dogs...

Help digging

Charlie likes to help with yard work. He's a real good digger!!

This last one is of his trip to Petco. He wasn't too sure of this dog until I knocked on him and he heard the hollow noise.
